Civil Engineer Sir Gangaram established this hospital in Lahore in undivided India in 1921, a few years before independence.  It came to this country in 1947 after partition. In 1951, the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, laid the foundation stone for the new hospital in New Delhi.  He also inaugurated the hospital on 13th April 1954.

In Gangaram Hospital with 675 units, 20 percent of the beds are reserved for the weaker sections of the society, all their medical tests, and operations are free, and 40 percent of the patients who visit the hospital outside are free. However, patients are seen in two ways on a first-come-first-served basis.

There are two modes of seeing patients in OPDs: 

1) free and   2) Private or paid. OPD is open from 10 AM to 8 PM.

Appointments:- Appointments are made by telephone, the number of which is given first, no registration fee is required for a general appointment, private outdoor registration is a fee of 200 Rupees, and for a doctor's consultation fee of 1500. The doctor will recommend admission if necessary.

Bed Rent:- 

Here bed rent is determined according to different categories Category 1A Rs.21 thousand. One B Rs.18 thousand. One C Rs.13 thousand &  One D Rs.10000. Category two to seven thousand 300 rupees.  3 to 5 thousand 500 rupees, labor room 13200 rupees.
